Confidentiality
Your discussions with a licensed psychologist are confidential, which means our discussions are protected by law. I may not disclose confidential information about you without your consent. There are situations, however, in which I am legally required to break confidentiality. These include the following circumstances:
- If I believe you are in danger of harming yourself or another person
- If I suspect abuse or neglect of a child, older adult (age 65 or older), or dependent adult
- If you are unable to provide basic care for yourself
- If I am court-ordered to release information as part of a legal proceeding
